Pershing has used the occasion of Boot Düsseldorf 2019 to unveil the new PERSHING 8X motor yacht, built from carbon fibre and representing an evolution of its PERSHING 9X predecessor.

The material brings the benefits of reduced weight, enhanced speed and lower fuel consumption while at the same time allowing for greater interior volume for the designer to create comfortable guest areas.
The new on board systems integrate propulsion with manoeuvrability, monitoring and navigation systems, ensuring that Owners find piloting a PERSHING 8X at high speeds fun and accessible. One of the most notable new features for the entire industry is the new music hull, which makes it possible to listen to music while diving or swimming underwater.
Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee worked in collaboration with yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni and Ferretti Group’s Engineering Department. Measuring 25m/83ft with a draft of 5.8m/19ft, the PERSHING 8X is an option below the 30m size category that will appeal to young families and small groups.
The exterior has an aft swim platform that leads into the tender garage with room for one Sportjet 345 jet tender and a jet ski. The foredeck hosts a C-shaped sofa and a sunpad on the bow, and the foremost part can be turned into another sofa to create an alfresco dining space.
The 22m²/236ft² main deck aft is shaded close to the doors to the interior and places a sofa and coffee table forward with a sun pad along the stern. If needed, the table can be lowered to create a second relaxation area, free from additional furniture. To port, there is a stairway of black painted steel covered in teak leading up to the sundeck, which contains a mobile grill and sink as well as storage compartments and lockers on both bulwarks. The 15m²/161ft² sundeck is also furnished with a 5m²/53ft² sunpad and a sofa adjacent. A retractable sun screen is placed in front of the helm station, and biminis and sun canopies can protect all alfresco living areas.
The main lounge can be combined with the main deck aft to create an open space of 50m²/538ft² comprised of alfresco lounge, inside the lounge, formal dining area and helm station. At the helm station there is double-side access and allows the crew to work without disturbing the Owner and his or her guests.
The lounge has a C-shaped sofa and chaise-lounger placed to starboard with a TV opposite integrated into the cabinetry. The formal dining area seats up to eight guests, who have marvellous views of the surroundings. The helm station was designed in conjunction with Poltrona Frau and the three independent chairs are upholstered in ‘Interior in Motion’ leather.
The port side of the helm station leads down to the lower deck, where a central corridor connects to four guest cabins: A full-beam Master suite amidships, two double cabins to port and starboard farther forward that have the capacity for a Pullman berth in each, and a VIP stateroom in the bow.
The Owner’s suite features an area of 20m²/215ft² and is furnished with a super king bed with a TV opposite, a chaise-lounge and a vanity. A walk-in wardrobe is placed to port and the bathroom to starboard aft of the bed. With the amenities placed behind, there is greater insulation from the engine room which is situated 5m/16ft from the guest accommodation.
Aft of the Master suite is the naturally-lit galley with stairway access to the main deck aft, and as a result, the crew area (comprised one single cabin and one double cabin, with shared bathroom and separate shower) can be completely separated from the guest area for greater privacy. The crew also have access to the engine room from the crew area, and all areas on the lower deck have headroom exceeding 2m/6.5ft.
In terms of technical specs, there are several options available for the engines, the standard being twin MTU 16V 2000 M96 engines creating 2435 MHP each, in conjunction with TopSystem surface drive propulsion and surface propellers. As a result, preliminary data suggests that the open yacht is able to reach a top speed of 45 knots and cruising speed up to 38 knots, with a maximum range of 320 nautical miles.
An alternative is the old PERSHING 82 engine arrangement consisting of twin 2638 MHP MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines with which the PERSHING 8X is expected to reach and even exceed 48 knots and cruising at a powerful 41 knots.
